Swimming pool chlorine is the number one swimming pool chemical treatment for sanitising a pool. It kills bacteria and algae that get into your swimming pool's water. Stabilised Chlorien comes in two forms - granular and tablet. You dose your pool with chlorien granules usually by scattering them on the surface of the water, chlorine tablets are placed in your skimmer basket where they slowly dissolve over a week.
Shock chlorine is Un-stabilised chlorine.
It is very important to keep your swimming pool water at the optimum acidity level. This is known as the pH balance. Acids (pH Minus) and alkalis (pH Plus are the chamicals you use to alter your balance. in the UK commonly water is very hard and you will need to make sure you have enough ph- to last the season.
Small suspended particles in the water sometimes sneak through the swimming pool filter system and create turgid and cloudy water which is why you will need a clarifier which gathers all the particles together and traps them in the filter. Goldifloc and Jolly Gel are our favorites.
Algaecides such as Kleen Pool or Liquid Algae Controller are added to your water solely to kill algae; the have no effect on any bacteria in the water. There are two forms of algicide - long life and regular. Long life algicides are a one off water treatment. You usually give your water one dose in the spring to last the swimming season and then later in the year for winterising in the colder months.
